This 16th-century church, richly adorned with frescoes by the Campi brothers, now serves as the headquarters of the architectural firm CLS Architetti. Partner Massimiliano Locatelli initiated the project of transforming this historic building into a modern workspace. His vision, which combines respect for historical architecture with the needs of contemporary business, resulted in a unique blend of old and new, where every detail of the space tells a story of centuries-old tradition and innovative design. Milan – A Church Transformed into Stunning Offices Upon entering this extraordinary business space, you are greeted by a reception area located at the entrance to the front church. The space is open to the public and has retained its original layout, including a unique chamber with a richly decorated vault, side chapels, and a central altar, preserving both the spirituality and aesthetic value of the original space. Locatelli and his partners decided to turn this part of the church into a space dedicated to creative disciplines, opening the doors to artists and designers from around the world to organize exhibitions, performances, and installations here, creating a cultural epicenter that uniquely blends the past and the present.
Near the altar is a library, while initial meetings take place in the space connecting the front and rear churches. This connection symbolizes the integration of history and modernity; the rear church, once reserved for the nuns of the neighboring convent, is now home to a four-story steel structure that serves as office space. This modern structure, built within the historic walls of the church, might initially seem like a contrast, but its design allows for a seamless connection between the old and the new. Open on all sides, the steel construction allows the impressive frescoes to be viewed from different levels, further emphasizing the building's historical significance and creating a unique bond with the art of past centuries.
On the top floor of this steel structure are the partners’ offices and a large meeting room, providing not only practical function but also an incredible view of the entire space. This innovative design allows team members to be inspired by the historical ambiance while working on contemporary projects, and the workspaces are arranged to maximize light and views of the church's interior.
